Dany is in Vaes Tolorro because she received a vision telling her to go into the Red Waste. The warlock that we are most familiar with is Pyatt Pree. The reader is also told that when the book starts the warlocks powers have dwindled, but the magic has came back ever since the ending of the first book.

We also know that they normally have pale white skin and blue lips. They drink something called Shade of the Evening, we are told that it helps the warlocks gain enlightenment. We know that they are native to Qarth, but world renown for their magic use. Qarth is made up of the ethnic group called the Qaathi. We know this because the bones are crumbling, but are mostly intact. And we know that Vaes Tolorro, the city Dany finds, has only been emptied for a hundred years or more. We know this because there are paintings on the walls of Qarth that depict all kinds of animals, animals that cannot live in a desert. And we know that whatever created the Red Waste happened within the last couple hundred years. The Red Waste is the largest stretch of desert in Planetos. Qarth is in between the ocean and the Red Waste. Who Are The Warlocks, Who Are The Undying?- Consumed by Magic.īefore we get to far into the Warlocks are our main target, we can’t forget that the House of the Undying is in Qarth, and how strange Qarth is. Although the visions might contain some truth, we shouldn’t give them any more importance than we absolutely have to. The Undying certainly know parts of the future, but their visions are vague, often incorrect, and could be nothing more than an attempt to lure Dany into the room to get her brains sucked out. All of the visions that she saw were placed there by the Undying who want to trick her into making herself vulnerable.

His plan is to have the Undying snack on her and absorb her powers. So, what just happened? Are the undying some kind of vampires? Do they know the future and the past? Should Dany trust what she saw? Should we trust we saw? Well, I will answer these questions and more in this article.Ībstract: Dany is tricked into going into the House of the Undying by Pyatt Pree who wants to kill her. She beats them by having her dragons light the Undying on fire, and then leaves the city right away.

In the end the Undying are just these weird body parts and end up trying to feed on her. She ends up seeing visions and scenes that seem to be the past, present, future, and alternate future of many of the characters in the series. Pyatt Pree gives her directions, which she follows. Dany enters a castle that is really a maze that changes constantly.
